ABOUT HEARTLAND
Heartland Animal Shelter is located in Wheeling, Illinois. We assist approximately 1,200 animals per year throughout Chicago and the suburbs, with a special focus on overcrowded public shelters, such as Chicago Animal Care and Control. We also rescue animals from areas with high euthanasia rates in Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, and as far away as Puerto Rico and Aruba. Many of the animals we rescue faced uncertain futures, either due to physical or behavioral challenges or a lack of available shelter space. In addition to helping homeless animals, we provide vital services to our community, including food pantries, free vaccines, and support for families who want to keep their pets but need extra help.
