Tawney

OMG, you guys are great! We adopted Tawney, the brown Black Mouth Cur about a month ago. She is the sweetest dog we could have ever hoped for!! She’s been renamed Millie, as it suits her perfectly… she’s also humorously called Silly Millie, Millie Biddelie, and Millie Moo… she’s loyal, smart, and seems wonderful with people and other dogs. She shows a little Alpha towards some dogs but we’re working on breaking her of that tendency. Please tell Tom and the staff that we send a BIG thank you for all you do, and for letting us adopt Millie. THANK YOU GUYS! Merry Xmas and have a great New Year and 2017! ~ Dr. Timothy Kelly

Millie and Milo

It will be 3 years ago on Dec 26 that we adopted our sweet siblings from Heartland. We went to Heartland after our little cat Dolly died suddenly at only 5 years old from a heart condition. We were so heartbroken and impulsively called Heartland to see if they were open on Christmas Eve. We spent 2 hours visiting cats looking for a bonded pair. Millie and Milo were the first pair we saw and I just knew they were waiting for us. They had been there 9 months. We took them home on Dec 26.

Millie (formerly Charlee) has always been outgoing and social, but Milo (formerly Pyerre) was shy and skittish. He has come a long way and loves snuggling, belly rubs and head scratches. Millie likes to curl up on your shoulder and her purrs are so loud I think the neighbors must hear her. I knew I didn’t want kittens but Millie and Milo are 8 now are very active and love chasing each other around the house. Their favorite activity is watching birds and squirrels at the feeder on the patio. They also love to snuggle in the bed pillows.

Tuck and Charlie

Dear Heartland Animal Shelter,
Back in June/July of 2016, we met Tuck and Charlie. Some might say that we adopted or rescued Tuck and Charlie. But the fact is they rescued us. Couldn’t imagine a world or life without these two! Most loyal friends with paws you could ever ask for.

So in the spirit of Christmas, the boys decided instead of receive toys and treats this first Christmas in their new home, they wanted to paw it forward, and give back to the place that took good care of them till they found their forever home with us. They even chipped in and got some treats and toys for the cats too! 😊

Thank you Heartland Animal Shelter for taking as many animals in as you do, and helping them find their forever home. Hope the supplies we dropped off tonight help until those loveable pets find their forever home. Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
