Here I am enjoying a beautiful summer day on the deck with my new friend Kiwi.

Edie (fka Mills)
Hi! Heartland!
Wanted to let everyone know how “Mills” now known as Edie is doing. She’s adjusting to me and her new life. She took to potty training quickly which makes her and me very happy! She has two dog walkers who also love her. The quiet little dog you all knew has found her voice! There is more training to do but she learns quickly. I love her very much and look forward to her realizing this is her forever home. She’s still a little wary and I think the “big city” has been a bit overwhelming. I know she will be the best little girl and we will have a
fantastic life together…forever!
Thanks for saving Edie!!

Charlie (fka Mr. Buttons)
I recently came across my adoption papers for my dog Charlie (nee Mr. Buttons) and realized that my wonderful boy was 14 years old! I adopted him from Heartland after trying for several months with different organizations. It always seemed I was second on a list until fate brought me to Heartland.
I was pleased to see that the animals were well kept and known to the volunteers working there. I told the volunteer that I was looking for a smaller adult dog and she led me to the cages. It was love at first sight when I saw the dog of my childhood dreams. My happy red and white spotted cocker spaniel had a big smile on his face and was thrilled to leave the cage and walk the track until distracted by the toys. He shook them and threw them up into the air, then contented, laid down with his back legs stretched out straight behind him.
If I had written a list of all the traits I hoped for in a dog, he has them all! He is lovable, friendly, happy, and playful. He is gorgeous too! Did I mention that? Charlie rarely barks and hardly sheds……..he is perfect and I have loved every day that he has been at my side. My boy was five when adopted and is 14 now…..a little slower….but still happy. I was the lucky one! Thank you Heartland!
Journey
I wanted to give an (almost) 1 year update on Journey ( formally journee). He has become the light of my life very quickly. He is definitely a very special boy. Everyone he has met has fallen completely in love with him. And it’s no wonder! He is smart, obedient, eager to please, has a goofy sweet personality and is such a love bug! He loves being with people, part of the “pack”. He has come a very long way. He use to be terrified of all men. He now is cautious but very very friendly. He is amazing with my nieces and nephews. He hated cars and now loves going byebye. It’s his favorite. He loves running at his “grandparents” who have 50 acres. He has made great strides with Zoey the cat (also a heartland alum formally sierra, adopted 4 yrs ago) while he is great with all animals she was hesitant. Now they are buddies. Nap together, watch birds together, and beg for treats together. He has not only brought love into my life but all my friends and family. He has grown so much and I am soooo thankful he is part of my family. Thank you heartland!!! He honestly is the best dog I’ve ever had.
Sherman
Dear Matt, all the kitty foster mom’s and Heartland gang,
Sherman is finally finished with his Blue Pearl phase (fingers crossed). He’s been through a lot in his short little life and we are presently weaning him off his medications. He has become a very rambunctious kitty, often giving Pantera a run for his money. As you might notice in the photos, Sherman has a shaved neck (because of the matting) shaved legs (IV’s) and a shaved tummy (ultra sound, etc.). He doesn’t seem to care and knows he’ll be gorgeous when his fur grows back. Pantera, of course, is his usual handsome self.
Thank you all for your concern and for Heartland’s offer to help with the costs. We didn’t need the financial help but so appreciate the kind gesture. We love these little guys and are counting on them to be with us for a long, long time.
Our very best,
Chris and Gary
Castor and Jack
Just checking in! Castor and Jack are very much a part of the family and are happy and loved. We are very happy they are here!
Castor is an energetic and affectionate cat. Jack has always been friendly and loves his toys, exploring the house, and getting warm on laps or curled with Castor.
Thank you for all you do!
