Every Tail Deserves a Second Chance
This year, like so many before, frightened, fragile cats and dogs arrived at our doors fighting for their lives. Priscilla and Phish are just two of nearly 1,400 animals we’re on track to save in 2025. But stories like theirs come at a cost—specialized surgeries, emergency care, and weeks of treatment. Your generosity this season empowers us to say “yes” to the next animal in crisis.
Phish
This scrappy alley kitten was rescued after his family disappeared. Found dragging a twisted leg, infested with fleas, and battling infection, Phish needed urgent care. After treating parasites, repairing a hernia, neutering him, and amputating his leg, we held our breath—would this tiny kitten pull through? Remarkably, Phish learned to sprint on three legs within days. Now adopted into a caring home with a senior cat brother, he’s thriving—full of mischief and joy.
Priscilla
Transferred from Chicago Animal Care and Control, she came to us after her former guardian surrendered her. Most transfers arrive with treatable respiratory infections—but this summer, an aggressive strain swept through, and many, like Priscilla, developed severe pneumonia. Her struggle was heartbreaking: two extended ER stays and weeks on supplemental oxygen. Yet through every setback, her tail never stopped wagging. After more than a month of care, Priscilla healed—and found a loving adopter.
