For Giving Tuesday, every donation is MATCHED — dollar for dollar — doubling your impact and the number of animals we can save!

Every Tail Deserves a Second Chance

As winter blankets Chicagoland, the holidays remind us why Heartland Animal Shelter exists: to bring light and hope where there was none. Your gift is so much more than a donation—it’s a lifeline of hope.

This year, like so many before, frightened, fragile cats and dogs arrived at our doors fighting for their lives. Their stories often begin in hardship or sickness—but thanks to friends like you, they don’t end there.

Priscilla, Phish, Clementine, and Monkey are just a few of nearly 1,300 animals we’re on track to save in 2025. Your generosity makes this possible—covering lifesaving surgeries, care, and second chances.

Help us this holiday season by giving the gift of hope that empowers Heartland to say “yes” to the next animal in crisis.

Priscilla came to us from CACC after being surrendered by her owner. She developed severe pneumonia. After two stays at the ER and weeks on supplemental oxygen, Priscilla made a full recovery—and found a loving adopt

Phish, a scrappy alley kitten, was found dragging a twisted leg and infested with fleas. Phish needed urgent care, including a leg amputation. Now adopted into a home with a senior cat, he’s thriving and full of mischief.

Queen Clementine arrived after years of breeding, still full of love and with a wagging little tail. She struggled with eye, breathing and skin issues. Multiple surgeries have given her relief, and she is on her way to a healthy life.

Monkey was rushed to the ER after suddenly becoming lethargic. He was in shock with severe bladder stones. Emergency care stabilized him. Once stronger, he had  surgery at Heartland to prevent future problems.
